The Church

Higher Bebington Road church came into existence on 21st February 1951. The church is a multi-purpose building which is wired with a loop system and is wheelchair friendly. The church has adequate parking space and adjacent to it is a community garden which is open for everyone to enjoy.

In 2012 it was decided to turn the waste land behind the church into a productive vegetable area. Starting with two raised beds and a lot of digging we managed to tame the "wilderness" and produce some fairly decent potatoes. Five years later and we have twenty-three beds producing a wide range of vegetables and fruit. Over the past year we have built a bug hotel and erected four more nesting boxes. We have also prepared a perennial flower bed devoted to butterfly and bee loving plants. Large numbers of daffodil bulbs have been planted in the "wild" and we will continue this again in the autumn.

In the next twelve months we hope to better manage the surrounding "wild" area for the greater benefit of wild life present in the garden.

So a plan conceived in 2012 has become a reality and an overgrown and derelict piece of land is now a productive vegetable garden wild life area. The experience has been very rewarding and most of all we as a church have benefitted from a sense of fellowship and ownership of something very special.
